The Contemporary Facelift

In a close collaboration with the client, architect and builder, a successful facelift was given to this semi-detached house in a period of 12 months. Structural alterations were introduced to the former air well to incorporate a dry kitchen at the dining area and a family area at level two. Aside from the air well, changes to the once open roof attic is now home to a generous bedroom and study room.

One of the biggest transformation in the interior of this house is in the dining and dry kitchen area. What used to be the open air well is now home to a dry kitchen in level 1, family area in level 2 and a spacious study room in level 3. The majestic double volume ceiling in the dining area takes centerstage, expanding the space to offer a sense of openness as one steps into the dining area.

A series of neutral hues used in the dining and dry kitchen area complements the original parquet and marble flooring, bringing about a gentle contrast. Hints of gold brings a sense luxe to the overall ambiance and the pebbles in the mini Zen garden under the stairs adds a touch of calm to the overall area.
