Perennial Charm

Welcome to Serangoon Garden Way! The new owners of this 20 year old house decided to give their coming home a complete revamp with a interior tailored to the family’s liking. We were appointed the interior design consultants to create a home that fully represents the family.

The homeowners knew what they wanted - a white interior which reflects modernity and luxe with a kitchen accented in blue. Their design brief was well thought and detailed. Working closely together, we brought their visions to life with several iterations, finetuning each to capture the smallest details.

On design specifics, we matched classical elements with modern detailing to result in a look that is able to withstand the test of time. In the living room, spraypainted wainscoting was employed to frame up the wall sconces and TV aligning them neatly to the borders.

Brass metal inlays, diagonal grooves and walnut veneer brings a modern tone to the traditional wainscoted look. Adding on to the non-conventional elements are the split wood dowel rods behind the sofa and the curves in the furnishings, furniture and arched corridor entrance. Soft, indirect ambient lighting creates a lounge like ambiance in this space through the cove lights around.

The white palette finds its way into the kitchen as the dominant color to be paired with royal blue as accent. The specially designed hood stands out in this kitchen as a feature on its own especially with the accenting blue. Matte gold handles lifts the spraypainted cabinetry to bring a sense of modernity to the classic bordered cabinetry design.

Level 1 is also home to a playroom for the kids and a guest room. The playroom was fitted with wall climbing features, suspended net, robe climbs, monkey bars and open spaces to sit and play.

Private Retreat

The family’s private sanctuary starts from level 2. This level is home to the master suite, junior master bedroom and a dance studio.

Dressed in a darkish palette, the metallic brass finishes on the adorn dark walnut and black finishes to heighten the sense of opulence in the master bedroom. Taking the centerstage is the magma black granite slab on the headboard which adds on to the luxe factor in this private quarter. Inside this room is also a music corner for playing both guqin and guzheng as well as a office area with a large table, ample cabinetry space for files and books. The balcony was transformed into a relax corner with a dry garden, a porch swing and some seating space.

At the other side of this level is the junior master. This white and taupe bedroom is elegantly accented with metal brass inlays. This room comes with ample wardrobe space with a walk-in wardrobe, a vanity area and a ensuite bathroom. Also in the level is the dance studio, fitted with full length mirrors and wall bars.

The Attic

With a 4.5m ceiling height to the roof pitch, the attic was transformed into two bedrooms for the children. Making full use of the height, both rooms were designed with a loft for resting, ample storage cabinets, wardrobes and a study area. The lights on the staircase doubles as night light for safety and the lighting on the shelves along the staircase provide indirect ambient illumination at night.

Attached to bedroom is a balcony, transformed into a alfresco space for some outdoor relaxation.
