sassy & swish

Welcome to Cube 8! Sitting at the atop the 35th floor, this 3,150sq ft penthouse received a makeover to its decade old interior. Offering a panoramic view of the city, the living/dining room boasts a ceiling height of 4m. The brief was to beautify the space within a specified timeline and we were given a free hand on the design to reflect the personality of the homeowner - an accomplished businesswoman.

The chosen color palette was monochromatic/neutral and we decided to stray away from the usual black and white look. Instead, we used shades of greys with off whites, accented by hues of pink, baby blue and champagne to induce hints of femininity. Soft textures like the suede cladding behind the TV was used and was intentionally designed with curvy lines to resemble blossoming flowers. Wallpaper with floral motif flows from the wall to ceiling, accentuating the sense of femininity. Further smoothening the masculine look was the ubiquitous use of curves on the built-ins and furniture.

Over at the dining area, Antolini’s Atlantic White soft quartzite offers a complimenting background to the blue and amethyst Dali suspension lamps by Italamps. The Bartoli dining table and Calligaris dining chairs completes the neutral look with the different grey tones. Just across the dining table is the island counter. Specially designed with a three tiered frame and clad with concave panels, this island is finished with Caesarstone's dark greyish quartz top to match the surrounding features.

Private Quarters

The first floor houses 3 bedrooms - 2 common rooms and a master bedroom. The first common bedroom was converted into a guest room, fitted with a specially customized bed with a integrated pull-out bed. On the left, a customized wardrobe was fitted for storage and on the bay window, a full stretch of open cabinet was fitted over for additional some storage.

Over at the master bedroom, the second common room was combined with it and converted into a walk-in wardrobe with a work corner. With the entrance to the new master bedroom relocated, the flooring in the corridor was replaced with Antolini’s Calacatta Covelano inlaid with black marble Nero Marquino for the border and diamonds.

The overall design language flows into the master bedroom, with the neutral palette and floral hints on the Moooi Heracleum iii pendant light’s rounded ends resembling a perpetual blossom of branches. This is matched by the pair of Lee Broom Eclipse Pendant Light above the side tables.

Sitting at the corner is the Silla chair from Calia Italia. The specially selected fabric feature motifs of colorful leaves to stand out from the neutral colors in this cosy corner. Another accent is the owner’s favorite embroidery art piece placed over the ottocento painted wall.

Adjacent to this space, the original wardrobe area was converted into a vanity area with display areas for accessories and bags. Calia Italia’s Giuggiola Chair stands out in this compact space, bringing a pop of pink accent.

The Outdoor Oasis

The biggest transformation was perhaps the open roof. The client and her family enjoys spending time outdoors in the open roof, relaxing and chatting. With this in mind, we wanted to create a very relaxed atmosphere for some family time. The original jacuzzi was removed and that space was converted into a conversation pit big enough to comfortably sit the family. In line with the client’s preference, this space was transformed into a garden with plants that are easy to take care of.
