Designing homes could be challenging – even more so, if you want to add a personal touch to your interior design. This, however, doesn’t mean you have to spend huge money on hiring an experienced interior designer every time you want to give your home a facelift. There are ways to add personal touch to your décor on your own. Read this article we shared on how you can get design ideas for your small living rooms! Additionally, here are some useful tips.

1. Add a dash of color

With small but effective uses of color, your house can really come alive and feel vibrant. Using colorful blankets, vases, paintings, pillows, rugs and various other accessories; you can add a real dash of personal touch to your interior design in the house. Another thing that could work is some colorful vase or lamp placed in one corner that will give the room an energetic feel.

2. Have fun with wallpapers

Using wallpapers in unexpected places - in hallways, foyers, closets and paneled rooms - can bring the fun element in your design.  This can work even better if you have a white room. You can then experiment with different, fun patterned wallpapers on the room’s walls and even on its ceiling. This will allow you to add personal touch in your room in a very innovative way.

3. Use family photos

Buy a large frame or a corkboard and use it to present some of your best memories. Be it a memorable trip, or your son’s first school day, or your honeymoon trip or perhaps a family get-together; you can place photographs of any of your special and indelible memories in the frame. You can also hang a postcard or a plane ticket which hold special significance. As the years roll by, you can keep adding such stuff and you will end up having a wonderful montage of your memories right in your room. Nothing, perhaps, would be a better way to add a personal touch to your interior design.

4. Place unique furniture

Placing a unique piece of furniture to your room would be a great way to redefine the look and feel of your interior décor. It could be an armchair, a sofa or a rocking chair, but it should be unique – something that would draw eyeballs the moment someone enters into the room. Remember, this unique furniture need not be expensive. However, it should set the tone for your room and complement your overall design theme. It would come off perfect if the right lighting is also being installed!

5. Make use of home textiles

One of the best and the simplest ways to add a personal touch to your home’s interior design or even bedrooms is by using home textiles. Pillows, sheets, and bath towels can be embedded with your initials or something personal.
